Including my Parkrun today, I have covered over 25k this week. I don’t have the ideal shape for running but that doesn’t mean I’m not a runner.
Never let social norms or your own insecurities stop you from getting out there and having a go.
If you don’t want to run alone, find a local running group or use a treadmill in the week and join your local Parkrun on Saturdays. Parkrun is free. The group I run is free as are many other Run Together groups up and down the UK. Check out their site and pop in your postcode and see what is happening near you.
