January is the time of year when everyone seems to be on a diet. I have seen numerous posts on weight loss sites from people re-joining slimming clubs. They re-join a certain club because, they say, it worked for them.
But if it worked, why do they need to rejoin?
I fully appreciate that for some people, a diet club will bring long term weight loss but they are in the minority. I’ve been to both Slimming World and Weight Watchers over the years and there are always familiar faces. I’d love to know how many January sign ups are repeat customers. Of course repeat customers are great for business so as a business model, these clubs are brilliant. But in my experience, they didn’t help me keep weight off for the long term. Conversely, I only joined the FATnosis programme once.
